Draupadi, A lady with Dignity, Power and Empathy✨
Fire means strength to fight with demons, courage to change the vision. One who was born with the strength, courage, power can unquestionably called as a “Child of Fire” or that human has the potential to be called as a ‘Fire’.
Draupadi, an epitome of beauty, dauntless potentiality born from fire. She resembles all the goodness in herself. Born in a wealthy family, she never presented herself as a princess rather she was the most humble yet elegant woman. She was married to Pandava. As a woman she also had some dreams for her wedding but her married life was not normal like others. She got married to the five Pandavas, Yudhisthir, Bheem, Arjun, Nakul and Sahadev. This happened because of her mother-in-law Kunti’s misunderstanding. Arjun won her heart in a swayambar. Draupadi was cursed by her father that her eyes will always remain teary. Because the king of Draupad wanted a son. Her whole life was a journey of fight, anger, revenge and curse. Of all her five husbands, Arjun was the one with whom she was the closest. She never wanted to share Arjun with anyone but she had to do it with Subhadra, sister of Krishna and Arjun’s another wife. Draupadi was the princess of Panchal and also the queen of Imdraprastha but her life was nothing more than a miserable tale.
Even though she was married to all five
Pandavas, still she was able to maintain her dignity by doing “Patiwata Dharm”.
As we all know in Mahabharata, Pandavas were exile for 14 years and she was
with them throughout all these years. She was a princess but still her life was
filled with misery and sadness. Lord Krishna was Draupadi’s best friend. But
when Krishna’s sister Subhadra married to Arjun, she was a little upset by the
decision of her friend. She never showed her anger in front of her family she
was very humble and gentle.
Her dignity was in danger when Kaurava was
misbehaving with her. Pandava lost her in the game of Pasha (gamble) and
according to the Kaurava if the loss in the game they had to give up Draupadi
to them. After which Kaurava started to molest her by doing “Vastra Haran”. Although
Krishna save her from this cruel activity and she took a vow in front of
everyone that she will be purified only when she takes a bath from Dushyashan’s
blood. And this was the starting point of Kurukshetra’s war. Her life was no
less than a tragedy.
After Pandava decided to fight the “Dharma
Yudh”, Draupadi became conscious of her family that she might loose all of her
sons and near and dear ones. She feared of losing them. But after Krishna’s
description about the necessity of war she became strong both mentally and
physically. Draupadi lost 5 of her sons and Subhadra lost her only son
Abhimanyu in this war of truth. But it didn’t stop Pandava. They fight for
their dignity, their wife’s respect, the revenge of their son’s death and most
importantly for the destruction of "Adharma" and construction of "Dharma".
Eventually the Pandava killed all the Kauravas and Draupadi took a bath with
the blood of Dushyashan.
Draupadi was no doubt a strong lady but
the tragedy she faced is still remembered by each and everyone those who know
Mahabharata. Our mythology is full of knowledge and experience. We should learn
from her sacrifice, we should become strong like her. She gave a lesson to us
that whether the situation is tough or not never ever lose the dignity that you
hold because it shows how strong and fearless you are.
If you haven’t read the Mahabharata yet, do give it a read because it is enriched with so many ideas and knowledge that it will definitely help in your path of success.
